Project Overview

Flamingo Gardens is a 60-acre botanical garden and wildlife sanctuary in Davie, Florida. It is home to over 3,000 plant species, champion trees, and the largest collection of native Florida wildlife in the state. As a nonprofit focused on preserving and educating visitors about South Florida’s natural and cultural heritage, Flamingo Gardens needed a website that could serve two purposes: welcoming guests with the same warmth and wonder they experience on the grounds, and giving staff an easy way to manage tickets, events, and educational programs. The old site was difficult to update, so visitors often missed out on accurate information about what to see and do. New Vue worked with Flamingo Gardens to design and build a site that shows off the gardens’ beauty, supports their conservation mission, and is simple for the team to manage well into the future.

Website Design

The new website design takes inspiration from the gardens, using lush greenery, vivid wildlife photos, and warm, natural colors to give visitors a sense of the experience before they arrive. Clear navigation helps guests find everything they need to plan a visit, including tickets, hours, exhibits, wildlife encounters, and the historic Wray Home Museum. Support options such as membership, donations, and volunteering are just as visible as visitor information, showing Flamingo Gardens’ role as both a destination and a nonprofit conservation group. The result is a site that feels as welcoming and well cared for as the gardens themselves.

Mobile Design

Many visitors research and book their trip from their phones, often while deciding where to go that day. Because of this, the site needed to work just as well on mobile as on desktop. The mobile version keeps ticketing, hours, and directions easy to find, with a simple menu that highlights the most important information first. Photos and wildlife content are optimized to load quickly without losing their impact, so the site remains fast and visually appealing on any device. Whether someone is planning from home or checking hours in the parking lot, the mobile site makes it easy to find what they need.

Simple Content Management

Flamingo Gardens’ calendar is always busy with seasonal exhibits, wildlife safaris, orchid judging, story time, summer camps, and more throughout the year. The team needed to update all of this without having to wait for a developer. New Vue built the site on a content management system designed for how the Flamingo Gardens staff works, making it easy to add new events, update exhibit details, and publish blog posts and impact updates themselves. This way, the website can keep up with everything happening at the gardens, giving visitors an accurate and current view of what’s in bloom, who’s visiting, and what’s coming up next.
